Novemberis just around the corner, and I'm finally sitting down organizing just which of the many novel ideas I'm going to hash out this year. This'll be my second year doing this, and I'm honestly psyched so!
So if you haven't heard of NaNoWriMo, that's national novel writing month (November) where basically you work to write a novel in one month. It's speed writing, but a lot of good books were actually NaNoWriMo babies (including Water For Elephants). You can read up more on it if you're curious here.
I was just curious though, anybody else here doing Nano?

Actually, I was going to give it a shot this year. I've had an idea for so many years, but I've never been able to properly execute the beginning, so I just gave up; but I'm going to try again. Since earlier, I flung out a 2,000 something word story in an hour, I might end up using that plot instead.
....Water For Elephants? I still need to read that, I heard it was amazing; it's somewhere in this damn house.
Actually, I have something enticing to offer as admin. To those who submit a story to NaNoWriMo, there will be some rewards. I will speak to the other staff about it, and we'll think of the rewards. So, is anyone else going to participate? It will be worth your while. [/size] |

I'm definitely doing NaNo this year. my first was two years ago, and I managed to crank out like 10k words in the last five days or so because november is usually the month when I get heaps of school papers to write. so, I did manage to finish. it was an awful kind of fantasy thing though, I didn't really want to continue it. the idea was great, I think, I just didn't plan it well so the beginning dragged out for ages and the writing style was ammature. maybe I'll revamp it sometime in future, idk.
I also did it last year and I had an excellent idea for that, but I tried to tackle too many things, I think. and my organisation was bad again. I ended writing a few random scenes from different parts in the book and then I gave up because I was distracted by schoolwork and role playing.
but anyway, I'm doing it again this year. not fantasy, though, so we'll see how I manage. my planning will probably be bad as usual but it's still to write~ |
