| WHERE WAS IT? HE HAD SEARCHED FOR IT everywhere! If he didn't find it soon then he knew that someone would find it and then everyone would soon see it. How did it disappear in the first place? He had kept it in a... Semi safe spot and he had been SO sure that no one would find it unless they had the ability to lift his enchanted pillow up with a password.
DID YOU TAKE IT OUT VLAD? WHAT DID YOU do with it? |
He asked himself as he frantically searched the boys Slytherin dorm. He was searching underneath all of the other beds despite the knowledge of being nosy. He had already looked under and all around his own bed and he couldn't see it. A strange sense of panic and uneasy washed over him as he searched. THEN HE STOOD AND RACED OUT THE DORM door and down into the Slytherin common room. His adrenalin raced [and not in that exciting good way.] He had to find it, he just had to! Please! Please Kamron! Please be safe! HE KNEW ABOUT THE STUPID RUMOR ABOUT him that was going around and to tell the truth he had been getting a little freaked out about it. More in a way that said he didn't much care for it but it was on his mind. That was part of the reason why he was panicking right now. He didn't want this to be used against him. His family album. If someone found that and put some of those embarrassing pictures up everywhere then what would he have left? Everything about Hogwarts would be ruined for him. THEN HE STOPPED. THERE WAS A SPELL FOR finding lost objects wasn't there? What was it called. Actually it was a charm yeah? Then it should be easy. All he needed to do, was to remember it. What was it! VLAD SAT ON THE COUCH THAT HE HAD BEEN searching under. His mind spun in rapid thought. He visited every crook and cranny that he could find but nothing came to thought. He looked up and swept his blank eyes across the common room. [/div]

TAG...jenkins and anyone else who wants to join. || WORDS...379 || NOTES...Awe! This was because, although Slytherins tended to be clever, the ones that were assholes were not and for some reason thought that banal nicknames were clever. Idiots.
No, but really. The real reason that the less mature Slytherins called it that was because of its regular occupant, one Sion Jenkins. The blond-haired boy usually used his bed and surrounding area for studying and other such projects, but sometimes he preferred to sit out in the common room and half-consciously observe the other students whilst thinking.
So that was why the lanky teen was curled up on the armchair, legs pulled up to his body, hands folded and pressed against his lips. His eyes were distant and his brow slightly furrowed. To a casual observer, it would appear as if he was oddly sitting there all alone. Inside his head, however, his mind was quickly running over the important information he learned in his previous transfiguration class.
His concentration was interrupted when he spotted an irregular movement in his vision. Sion lifted his head to see one of the first-years scurrying around the common room, looking flustered. It was a bit irritating, being distracted like this, but he decided to make use of it. He made it his business to keep tabs on the student in both his house and year, because although he couldn't (and didn't want to) keep track of everyone in the school, it was good to have that sort of information on hand.
...Looking for something he lost, obviously. No other reason for peeking under every sofa in the room. And it'd be something important, judging by the look in his eyes and the slight flush to the cheeks. He's a first year - hadn't bothered learning first name yet, surname Zetina, if memory serves - so maybe he doesn't know the spell to retrieve it. Either that, or one of the older students charmed it to stay hidden. Apparently he'd been quick to answer a question in charms and there were a few rumours about him floating around the common room (again, idiots), so that was one motive...
Well, Sion could at least offer to help. He did like assisting people, after all. Actually, he liked pointing out what was obvious to him and having them fix up their own problems. But he was still a helpful person, even if he didn't give too many fucks as to whether people wanted his help or not.
Unfurling himself from the the armchair, Sion strolled casually over to the younger student. "If you haven't already, you might want to try accio," he said pleasantly, lips rising in a sardonic smile. [/style]

| "IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, YOU MIGHT WANT to try accio," |
THE VOICE WAS PLEASANT, BUT SOMEHOW cruel at the same time and Vladimir looked up to see eye to eye with Sion Jenkins. That was his name yes? Vladimir was almost surprised that the fourth year student was helping him, but he heard that sadistic hint in his voice. Of course he had known the answer and he was telling Vladimir merely to have a little fun. Him being a first year and all. Course the information was helpful and Vlad wasn't sure why he couldn't remember that, but what could he do? It wasn't like he was giving him wrong information or anything. Or mocking him for no good reason. Mocking him? Ohkay maybe he was. So what. Vlad didn't care, but if Sion knew the rumors already would he mock a fellow housemate? COURSE NOT RIGHT? VLADIMIR GAZED AT SION FOR A MOMENT before taking out his wand and saying the magic words quietly. "Accio my Family Album." He whispered quietly and attempted a small flick of his wand. IT WORKED OF COURSE BECAUSE VLADIMIR was good with spells. Especially charms. Boring little buggers, but good at them all the same. The album appeared in his hands a few moments after he stated the charm. For a moment he gazed at the book to make sure that it wasn't harmed in anyway shape or form and then he looked back up at Sion. WHAT SHOULD HE DO? SURE IT WAS OBVIOUS that he was supposed to say thank you and sorry for disturbing him from where he had been hanging out. But how would he respond? He probably won't be angry, but would he take this mocking thing further? If he did then what would Vlad say to get him off his back? STOP MAKING EVERYTHING SO COMPLICATED and thank him you idiot! Vladimir growled at himself in thought. He glanced down at the book again and then back up at Sion a bit awkwardly. Vladimir Zetina didn't say thank you or sorry very often. "UM... THANK YOU JENKINS FOR HELPING ME and I'm..." He paused. Apologizing was irritating and Vladimir knew he would be happy when this awkward moment was over. "I'm sorry for disturbing you from your thoughts and your... chair." Vladmir was obviously trying out the spell, though. A moment later, some sort of thick book came flying through the air and landed in the other boy's hands. So the kid was good with spells. Probably hadn't used accio before, but he'd gotten it right.
Vladmir examined the book for a moment - didn't even open it though, maybe luckily for Sion, since who knew if someone actually had taken it and put some sort of prank spell on it that would be set off when opened? Sion wished he could get a better look at the book. But the first-year seemed satisfied with his examination and had looked back up at him as if he was about to say something.
"Thank you, Jenkins, for helping me, and I'm... I'm sorry for disturbing you from your thoughts and your... chair." Sion blinked at the combination of the thank-you and apology. Then he shrugged quickly, mouth briefly scrunching to one side. "Don't worry about it. Some Slytherins can stab one another in the back, but most of us look after our own. Besides, I enjoy solving problems... usually when they're interesting, though." His lips lifted slightly.
Almost as if on a whim, Sion promptly plopped himself down on the sofa besides Vladmir, slouching with his legs stretched out and hands folded in his lap. "Just some advice, though, Zetina. Continue acting as if you don't care at all about rumours and humiliation. That's how they break people." His voice was low and almost languid, and his chin tipped up thoughtfully as his head rested on the back of the sofa. "It's better if you actually don't care about the effects of their instigations, but since you do, it's best just to keep up the act and pretend as if the opposite were true."
Just some friendly analysis and advice from Sion Jenkins. No need to thank him. [/style]

VLADIMIR LOOKED UP FROM HIS BOOK AND glanced over at Sion. "How did you..." He paused a second, realizing just how Sion had noticed his fear. "Right, just now you saw my panic, huh..." Vladimir sighed and nodded. He needed to work on that. Normally he wouldn't care what people thought about him, but since it was also in his own house AND he didn't have the friend support he needed yet, he didn't yet feel comfortable. "Hmmn... your right. I'm doing my best." He said in reply. THEN HE LOOKED DOWN AT HIS BOOK AGAIN and wondered. "Its trapped isn't it?" he asked with a bored look on his face. He knew a spell that would detect traps but he had learned it in Prep-school and he knew it wasn't 100% reliable. So he rejected the idea. He looked back up at Sion and paused. "I HAVE A QUESTION, I GUESS ADDING TO THE one that I silently, unconsciously asked before. Do you know any spells or charms, better then the one taught in Prep-school, that would check the book for any harmful or crazy spells?" [/div]

TAG...Sion Jenkins || WORDS...248 || NOTES...Sorry its so short. || MUSE...Bleh

Sion heard the other boy say. He raised his eyebrows expectantly, still studying the ceiling, waiting for that almost-audible click of someone getting a clue. "Right, you just saw my panic," Vladmir continued. The older boy's brow relaxed and a satisfied smile crossed his face. Good. It had been blatantly obvious; he'd have lost all trust in finding some fragment of skewed facts in rumours if the kid hadn't gotten it. He'd have to have some semblance of intelligence if there were tales of him being a know-it-all going around.
Sion almost expected the first-year to run off, but Vladmir seemed to be sticking around for the moment. Maybe it was because he needed Sion's help. After all, there was that difficult choice between swallowing one's pride or getting something nasty in your face due to a prank. But maybe it was also out of loneliness. It didn't seem like this kid really knew what to do now that he'd found his book thing. He didn't seem to have many friends yet. Sion personally chose to have a lack of close friends to avoid complications, but he could see how Vladmir might possibly want them as some sort of security.
Well, he might not be able to be a friend, but he could definitely help with other things. "Well, detecting student-made magic is always difficult. People make prank spells; others come up with ways to detect them; new people create new, undetectable spells." Still lounging on the couch, Sion brought his hands from his lap to beneather his chin, steepling them again as he closed his eyes. "Once you become more experienced, you can sort of... feel around for the magic," he continued dreamily. "But for this situation, I recommend a sort of cleansing charm, to dispell any traces of magic. Just to be safe." His brow furrowed thoughtfully."Finite incantatem might work, but since any spell upon the book hasn't been activated as of yet, I'd try... reditus ordani. Yes, you could try that."
His face cleared and a familiar, self-pleased smile returned to his face. Sion tapped his fingers lightly upon his chin before remarking slowly, "Zetina, you are aware that most Slytherins take a certain... ah, pride in their families? That it's typical to care about them?" Well, he personally didn't, but whatever. [/style]

| He was about to use the second spell that Sion had suggested when the fourth year spoke again. Vladimir stopped and turned to look at him. for a moment he was silent and he seemed to be trying to look angry, but he was failing bitterly. Finally he looked away from Sion's intense eyes and looked back down at his book.
"I'm pretty sure that your not the kind to want to know the life story of any one individual's except your own. I am proud of my family but I am not proud of the situation its in. Does that clear it up?" He asked respectfully but at the same time he was trying to keep his common ground between hiding his past and saving it. He wasn't sure if Sion had payed much attention to the Daily Prophet 5 years ago, when Kamron and his mother were found dead beside Vladimir, but he wasn't about to ask. He was going to leave it as it was.
He began to study the book to change the subject. Then he lifted his wand and spoke the second spell. "Reditus ordani." he said. Nothing happened at first and Vladimir began to wonder if he did it right or the book had never been trapped in the first place. He glanced at Sion nervously as if he was embarrassed at not being able to get it on the first try.

The tone of his voice had sparked a little niggling in the back of his brain... But what? "All I'm saying is, I'm sure a lot of other Slytherins have pictures of their family members. Judging by the edges of the pages of your book, it's actually a photo album. That, and the fact that you seemed more concerned about the book being damaged that people simply reading it, pointed to some emotional attachment to the photos in addition to being embarrassed for having them. So, family photo album. Yet you still hid it, probably because you thought that pictures of family members would be associated with home-sickness. But what I'm saying-"
Sion's rapid flow of speech came to an abrupt halt, his half-lidded eyes blinking. "But..." he said, trying to regain his flow of thoughts. Zetina. Zetina. It was the name, something about the name and Vladmir's voice that triggered some buried memory. Something about this family talk. Something in the news... Sion read the news fairly regularly, mainly the ones having to do with interesting cases, like theft or fraud or murder. Murder. Oh, god, it was coming back, his mind sifting the data like a search engine - situation, Zetina, family, murder. Oh. He hoped that the click in his head wasn't audible.
"But I'm saying it's fine. It's cleared up. Nothing to be ashamed of." Sion was flushed and his eyes were bright and distant, and somehow he'd sat up straight without realising it. He waved his hand dismissively and seemed to come out of his reverie. His attention snapped back to the book. "But enough chit-chat. Let's return to the spell, shall we?"
Sion rolled up the sleeves of his robes and leaned toward Vladmir and the photo album, resting his chin in his hands. "The only problem with this spell is that it doesn't give you a sign if the magic's been dispelled. I should probably fix that. Anyway, now all that's left is to open it - just to be safe, try pointing it away from you." [/style]
