wood - YEW | a lighter-hued wood which is particularly suited for dark magic and curses. It pairs with bold, confident, and unique individuals.
core - ACROMANTULA VENOM | venom extracted from an acromantula’s fangs after it’s death and crystallized. Much like the creature it comes from, a wand using this core is rather dangerous and temperamental. For that reason as well as the danger involved in obtaining this ingredient, these wands are not popular, or easily found, unless one likes and frequents places like the Black Market. They are however, a wise choice for one who wishes to cast dangerous hexes or dark magick. Wands with this core should be wielded by persons with self-control as they tend to respond with unnecessary force to feelings of rage, malice, jealousy, etc. While the core is temperamental, it is tremendously loyal to its owner. It learns new spells at a moderate pace.
length - 11 inches | moderate power, moderate accuracy
rigidity - SUPPLE | average power, slightly augmented speed. Unlikely to break.
PERSONALITY |
+ AMBITIOUS: Once she starts a task, she will not stop until it is completed to the best of her ability. Imogen strives toward success, the bigger the goal, the better! Victory is all the sweeter when one has worked extremely hard to attain it.
+ CHARMING: Well, SOMETIMES… And she could blame it on the siren’s blood she inherited from her mother, but it’s mostly because she likes the sound of her own voice and the knowledge that it can ensnare others. She is always a little bit friendly, and a little bit seductive. Smile a lot, hold conversations, and flirt a little. Get the person to warm up to you; you get very loyal puppets that way… Urm, no, ‘friends’… Basically, her charm is activated only when it’s convenient for her (which is pretty much all the time).
+ CONFIDENT: Imogen has a pretty good sense of self. She knows who she is, and what she can do. She carries herself to match this mindset. If asked to display her abilities, she will do her best to impress each and every time. Sometimes her behaviour is border-line cocky, but it can be chalked up to her having a rather healthy level of self-esteem.
+ GENEROUS/HELPFUL:Keep in mind that this is only reserved for those she takes a liking to and those numbers are few. She will help them as much as she can and to the best of her ability. Those that know her and know her well can count of her in times of need to be ready, willing, and able to aid them.
+ INQUISITIVE: She has a thirst for knowledge, she just loves to know, to learn new things. As a result, she’s often seen reading some book of some sort.
+ OUTSPOKEN: She speaks freely, boldly and doesn’t really care if the person she’s expressing her opinions to is appreciative, or even listening. She will make her thoughts and beliefs known. Subtlety and evasive speech are totally foreign concepts to her. One would never be in doubt with her.
+ WITTY: Smart answers, snappy retorts and the occasional ‘WTF?!’ statements are the norm for Imogen’s vocabulary. Most of the times, it really isn’t done on purpose, most happen to be in response something said to her. Other times it’s just her thinking aloud. But, no matter what the situation, there will always be a point where she says something that either makes the person listening to her laugh or stare at her in shock or amazement.
- ANAL – Imogen likes things done her way or no way at all. She likes things forever neat and organized and she will not stand for anything of hers being disturbed or set another way by anyone. This trait of hers is very annoying as you could think that you are doing her a favour or simply helping her and her reaction would be to scream and pitch a
- CONTRARY: Don’t attempt to correct or discipline her. Just don’t. She doesn’t like it or thinks that she needs it. Well, you can try, if you want your head bitten off, but it’s advised that you don’t.
- CYNICAL: Trusting people is hard to do. You would have to do things that leave you open and exposed… Like opening up, and expressing feelings and sometimes, being vulnerable just lets you get hurt badly. Misplace trust has damaged her once, and once bitten makes for twice shy. She expects that almost everyone else’s motives behind their actions to be ulterior and evil. Unless they’re like a saint, or a nun, or a priest – they do that because it’s their job and God will be pissed with them if they don’t, right?
- FICKLE: If she says she has your back, don’t believe her. Unless you happen to be a really close friend. Otherwise, you may find yourself the proud recipient of the ‘Golden Screw’. She’s traitorous by nature, and like a true Slytherin, she will side with whomever or whatever will allow her to get the best out of any situation. Thou hast been warned.
- MISCHIEVOUS/MALICIOUS: Yes, Imogen is extremely mischievous. She loves causing some form of trouble for others for her own amusement, and by others, I mean people that she does not like. Sadly, her mischief, if it was just restricted to a series of harmless pranks, probably would have been tolerable. However, Mo’s idea of amusing and fun borders on malevolent. She delights in causing her victims extreme emotional distress and due to her enthusiasm that she has towards her tasks, she makes sure that she does a thorough job. Because of this, several people hold serious grudges and those who were mere witness are not fans, not that she cares…. (as far as she’s concerned, they’re next)
- STUBBORN: if Mo wants something to be done and she believes that she is right in doing it, she will not back down. It does not matter who is telling her not to, or to stop, she will do as she pleases. This has and continues to get her into trouble with her authority figures.
- VAIN: Only when it comes to her silky smooth honey toned speaking voice, and the well trained soprano she has for singing. Ah, who am I kidding, she is also very vain of her deep blue hair, that marks her for a merperson (well, half) as well as the shimmery scales that can be spotted in tiny patches on her legs. She spends hours throughout the day ensuring that they are in perfect condition – always.
ADDITIONAL INFO: RP SAMPLE |
The colours were dancing, swirling, swimming. It was a beautiful harmony of greens and blues and all the shades in between. Her world shimmered and sparkled thanks to the light that had managed to filter through to these depths. She could remember ridiculously wanting to hold her breath, feeling a familiar burn at the lack of oxygen before she couldn’t any longer… Her breath was released, and then along with the swirling colours, there were now bubbles. She then heard laughter, pure and sweet and more beautiful than any she had ever heard before. At that moment, she didn’t care that she was the object of someone else’s amusement… that voice too beautiful, she couldn’t stay angry at it… And neither could she stay angry at its owner. The woman, the merperson, the siren swimming around her in slow circles, was far too gorgeous. She heard her own voice, somehow amplified in its childish prettiness underwater, whisper shyly: “Hi.” And the beautiful voice of the siren answered back: “My Imogen… My darling.” Then, her world was turning slowly, colours still flashing, everything still shimmering as she was held lovingly against a chest, arms a warm circle, lips pressed to her forehead, murmuring sweet things she could not yet understand in Mermish. She wanted to stay forever. Imogen wanted to stay here forever.
Imogen woke with a smile and was greeted with the sight of those colours she so loved, swirling and shimmering like she remembered it. She had charmed a crystal globe in her room to cast those colours. Those colours, that feeling of being loved and belonging at long last… That was the first concrete memory of her time spent with her mother. Her paternal grandparents had somehow managed to strong-arm their son – she did not want to know how – and had managed to keep her away from both him and his wife for the first four years of her life. Mo smiled again remembering her father patiently and amusedly listening to her prattle on for days about her mother the mermaid (as if he didn’t know what his wife was), and answered all her questions (well, almost all – telling at child at four of how she was conceived could be quite tricky). She remembered with that same silly smile, demanding to be taken to see her mother every day. Her father refused to let her go down to that artificial place he’d created for his wife on the estate alone. Irrationally, he seemed to be afraid of her drowning, or something silly like that. Half-merpeople did not drown.
Chuckling soflty, Imogen sat up and her eyes travelled to the wall to her right. Painted in soft water colours was a mermaid – all soft lines and female beauty. She had blue-green hair and bright hazel eyes, and in her arms, she cradled a child, a half merperson with deep blue hair and happy blue eyes. The child had her arms twined around her mother’s neck, their noses were touching, and both were smiling. Imogen had painted it herself, and had painted a similar one, featuring her mother and her sister, Isolde, in a similar pose, based on what Isolde had remembered of her many adventures with their mother. Precious Isolde, who was much like her sister in the pride she had of being a half merperson, but not as strong. Precious Isolde who was starting Hogwarts today, much like Imogen was starting as a professor today. She wondered if Isolde was doing the same thing as she was, lying awake and basking in that soft swirl of colour and sweet memories.
“Well, no use in worrying. Isolde will be fine. She has me,” Imogen lied skilfully to herself; she knew better than anyone else that no one could protect you from the teasing or the torture. She winced as she recalled an incident in her first year where she was restrained by some elder Slytherins, precious water right there in front of her, but she couldn’t reach it. She remembered the tightening in her chest, the sharp pangs of being deprived of air, the splitting headache, the feeling of being choked. Then, blessed relief as they let her go and she dunked her head into that filthy water. Her eyes stung with tears then, and she had refused to let them fall. She remembered clearly the laughter and the taunts for days after. Desperate Imogen had plunged her head into a bucket filled with a mixture of urine, water, and Merlin knew what else, all because she had needed some form of water to survive. Yes, they had gotten detention, and eventually, she had too for hexing each and every one of them into next week.
“Isolde will be fine.”
But this time, there was steel in Imogen’s words. Isolde would never suffer like that, not if she could help it. Merlin be with whoever tried to hurt the young girl. Merlin be with whoever tried to make her ashamed of what she was. And Merlin be with whoever remembered and had the balls to mention that head-in-urine incident to her younger sister. “Time to get ready for class.” Imogen mumbled to herself in Mermish, and rolled out of bed, heading for the bath. Hopefully, today would be a good day, for her and for Imogen.
