sion has a unnerving tendency to read people like a book when he first meets them, whether he uses legilimency or not. not that he meets new people a lot. he tends to unconsciously distance himself from others. overall, sion comes across as cool, collected, and totally in control. he's calculating and efficient, seemingly unaffected by emotion. this can come as a sort of a surprise to most people, since he has quite the reputation of being completely mad. though, to be fair, most of the rumours of his eccentric behaviour are true. sion doesn't seem to let such rumours affect him, however, because he has such an air of being confident and self-assured. honestly, he doesn't give a fuck what others think of him. he gets a bit testy if people try to change him, especially authoritative figures. he thinks he functions perfectly well compared to most people. at times this makes him a bit arrogant, especially where intelligence is concerned, because he can be impatient if others don't understand him.
although sion does not take pleasure in social interactions, he can be quite polite and charming when need be. he is eloquent and can articulate himself very well. he doesn't take much stock in friendships with others and claims it's because he finds most people rather dull and unimportant. maybe it's just because he doesn't know how to keep friends and is too proud to admit it. he constantly makes the mistake of thinking understanding psychological aspects of the human mind means he understands emotions, too. sion also doesn't seem to understand romantic relationships. although he wouldn't care to admit it, any mention of... physical intimacy is enough to make him feel uncomfortable. and he thoroughly distrusts women anyway, probably due to his mother's "betrayal." as for men? well, sion hasn't really looked into it. he doesn't have enough data to draw a verifiable conclusion.
HABITS AND HOBBIES |
ah, yes. those aforementioned "habits" of his. although sion comes across as quite balanced in the head, that balance seems to be a precarious one. when interacting with others, sion can be very collected, but left to his own devices he is prone to mood swings, switching from being utterly bored and lethargic to having fits of nervous energy. some people claim he spends too much time in the dungeons getting high off of potion fumes, and that probably isn't far off from the truth. he strives to find potions that will elevate his level of thought process and stimulate his mind. he can also become overly absorbed in studying, especially during exams, spending hours lounging in the dorm with books on his bed and occasionally muttering to himself. during these times, he replaces caffeine with food and sleep. luckily he has a good immune system. sion used to play the flute whilst thinking, but blowing in air became too tedious, so now he chooses to hum or play the violin. he's extremely messy and the area around his bed looks like a pigsty, but he himself is meticulously clean. he has the self-grooming habits of a cat. oh, and he smokes. cigarettes are hard to sneak into hogwarts, though, so he usually opts for nicotine gum/patches. it makes him feel more calm and alert. combined with caffeine and comfortable pillows, sion used it to get into an almost meditative state whilst studying.

sion has a keen thirst for knowledge. he has an obsession for knowing the truth and he loves getting to the bottom of things. he lives for the "aha!" moments of figuring out how things work, and so he enjoys immersing himself in his studies. however, there are only certain areas that interest him, and others that he finds tedious. he doesn't exactly grasp the concept of getting good marks - he just pursues his interests. sion has always loved subjects such as potions and herbology that didn't deal with spell-casting, because they just clicked so well with him. he has a medium interest in defense against the dark arts, charms, and transfiguration, in that order. he considers demonology important but doesn’t take a passionate interest in it. history of magic is sometimes intriguing, but the overall class is quite dull. divination and arithmancy are completely irrelevant to him. outside of classes, sion dabbles a bit with muggle technology, music, and literature, but it stems more from an appreciation of art than his need to gather information. potions still remains his true passion.

HISTORY |
sion was born in cardiff, wales to howell and sarah jenkins. he loves the city, even if he doesn't exactly like returning home every summer. he was raised there with his brother, owen, though he prefers to refer to him as "that pompous prick." he has somewhat of a love/hate relationship with his sibling, who is seven years his senior. owen is even more clever than sion and taught him a lot of useful things during their childhood. although he never bothered to learn legilimency, he still had keen observational skills that he shared with his younger sibling. sion doesn't resent him for his superior intelligence, however - he just hates his brother's lack of ambition. sure, owen did very well as a ravenclaw throughout his school years and secured a minor position in the ministry of magic, but he isn't the slightest bit motivated to rise any higher. but that wasn't even the real reason. the thing that bothered him about his brother was that owen considered unearthing knowledge as a job, and sion viewed it as an art.
and then there’s his relationship with his parents. sion was a bit trying as a child. he caused his parents a lot of stress and anxiety due to his odd habits, mood swings, and annoying disregard for housework. he did try to tone it down for their sake, but overall he seemed to dislike feeling at home. he felt restricted. chores were dull and his freedom suppressed. there’s also the issue of the divide in his family. his parents got divorced when he was eleven due to the fact that his mother was having an affair. sion has maintained a fairly good relationship with his father, but not his mother. he still hasn't forgiven her for what he considers a betrayal of the family. owen, being “more mature,” has forgiven her and remains on good terms, but sion stubbornly refuses family gatherings which involve his brother, his mother, and himself seated around a table. needless to say, the dinner conversations don’t always go well with the three of them.
