Judas Dominic Chambers is the second son of Justin and Emma Chambers. His parents were going through a rather rebellious phase during the year he was born, and that's how was "lucky" enough to receive the name he has. Justin had been having a conversation with a co-worker of his, and they had been talking about damned names; names such as Hitler were mentioned, and so was the name Judas. His parents then decided that it was time to show the world how silly such thoughts were, and suddenly it was on their son's birth certificate.
Justin was an emergency room doctor at the hospital were Jude was born, and Emma was a social worker, working with children with disabilities. Their oldest son, Connor, was already four years old when Jude was born, and, although he was slightly jealous of this new baby at first, he always loved his little brother. Justin and Emma now had their whole family, and this was how they were going to live out their lives perfectly.
From the day he was born, Jude was always closest to his father. He loved his mother and brother just as much, but the times that he got to spend with his father, just the two of them, were the best. His father taught him how to play cards when he was very young, and so every Thursday became cards night. To some children, that might sound incredibly boring, but those were Jude's favourite evenings. His brother Connor was never interested in things like that. He was always outside, playing soccer or hanging out with his friends.
Jude loved the Muggle school he went to and all of his friends there. Even at a very young age, it was easy for him to meet new people and make friends. It was when he was about eight years old that he realized he wanted to be a doctor, just like his father. At this point Justin had become his biggest idol. Jude went to work with him whenever he was able and allowed to. His father, seeing his son's enthusiasm, encouraged him in joining the medical career, and gave him lots of advice; such as to pay lots of attention in chemistry. It soon became Jude's favourite subject.
Words cannot describe how devastated the whole family once Justin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This happened right after Jude had turned ten, and he was in complete shock. But he knew cancer could be cured; there were lots of people who survived that disease. Neither Justin nor Emma knew how to tell their sons that pancreatic cancer is hardly ever curable, but they knew they would have to eventually. Unfortunately, by this point, the cancer had already been spreading for years and Justin had to be admitted a week and a half after being diagnosed. Jude and Connor visited him every day. His father would act cheerful as always, and him and Connor would talk about all sorts of things. Jude was too shocked to ever say a word.
He was in the room when Justin's suddenly heart stopped, four days after he was admitted. The nurses hurried to get him out of there, as he was screaming and fighting against them to stay with his dad. But it was too late. Justin's heart never started beating again. Jude cried nonstop at the funeral, and he kept desperately begging his father to come back. But Justin was buried, and there was nothing he could do about it.
The next year was a complete mess for the whole family. Everyone remained in shock for those twelve months, and then things started to get easier for Connor and Emma. Suddenly they were able to mention Justin again without there being any long silence afterwards. Jude was never able to join into those conversations, which saddened his mother very much.
Eleven months after Justin's death, Jude received his letter to Hogwarts. At first they were all confused, obviously, but once they had accepted the fact that it was not a joke, Emma and Jude were delighted. He felt really excited for the first time in a whole year because, well, he was a wizard, but also because he could get away from their house and his school. It all reminded him too much of his father. Connor always claimed that he didn't care about Hogwarts, but in all honesty it was absolutely impossible for him not to be jealous.
Jude has created many great memories at Hogwarts over the a few months time. Of course, he was scared at first when he walked with the other first years to the Sorting Hat, taking it all in for the first time, but as soon as he was sorted into the Ravenclaw house, he felt at home, and he knew this was where he was supposed to be. His mother had bought him a kitten, Isaac, and Jude was happy that he had a friend with him as he was starting this new life.
Although he did everything he could to get away from everything that reminded him of his father, he threw anything away that belonged to Justin. Like their playing cards, or the lucky four leaf clover they had found together one day. His real name, Judas, is also an example of that. Ever since Jude learned whom everyone associated his name with, he was determined to change it as soon as he turned eighteen. Even though his parents had apologized multiple times for being so reckless when naming him, they refused to let him change it until he could make the decision himself. They both believed in being proud who you are, no matter what. Jude didn't care about what they said back then, but now his name represented something his father had wanted him to have.
