Magical Creatures
Class X : Boring
FLOBBERWORM | Brown worms, approximately ten inches long when at full length. They excrete a thick green mucus used to thicken potions, and can be eaten fried in batter (Flobberworm fritters).
HORKLUMP | Mushroom-like creatures who fish through the ground with their tentacles to catch earthworms. They are a delicacy for gnomes, but weed-like vermin for everyone else. Streeler venom is one of the few substances that kills them.
Class XX : Harmless
AUGUREY | A shy bird which resembles a vulture. It has dark green-tinted feathers which are waterproof (making them horrible quills) and eats insects, fairies and flies. It only sings when it is about to rain, and only leaves its nest when it rains heavily.
BOWTRUCKLE | These small creatures look more like a plant than an animal. They have bark-like skin and two twig-like fingers on each hand. They eat insects and eggs, and hardly ever leave their home tree.
CHIZPURFLE | These parasites can only grow up to a twentieth of an inch. They eat anything and everything with magic in it, but can be easily killed by certain potions.
CLABBERT | Imagine a monkey with the green leathery skin and mouth of a frog, as well as two stubby horns of a cow; now, put a small red dot on its forehead that glows when it feels threatened, and you have a Clabbert.
DIRICAWL | This creature is what Muggles call a "dodo". The Diricaw, unbeknown to Muggles, can disappear and reappear in another place at will. They still exist, they're just a real pain to find.
FAIRY | Fairies are 1 to 5 inch tall humanoids with insect wings. They cannot speak, and have limited intelligence and magic ability. They are most often found in forested areas and lay eggs.
FERRET | These are domesticated weasels often used as pets. They are also a large part of Hippogriff diets.
GHOUL | Ugly and noisy humanoids with incredibly limited intelligence. They live in the attics and basements of wizards, feeding off of insects and house pets.
GNOME | Short, stubby creatures that look somewhat like a potato with legs. They like to burrow underground and destroy the roots of plants, thus being the worst enemy of gardeners.
GRINDYLOW | Aquatic, squid-like creatures who have been domesticated by the merpeople. They have been known to pull swimmers underwater and drown them; the trick to surviving is breaking their weak grip.
JOBBERKNOLL | A small bird with blue specks which doesn't make a sound until it dies. When it does die, it repeats every sound it ever heard backwards.
MOONCALF | Burrowing, four-legged creatures with bulging eyes on top of their heads. They only come to the surface when there is a full moon, and move in odd circles (creating crop circles which confuse Muggles).
OWL | A bird of prey used by wizards for carrying postal messages.
PORLOCK | Two foot tall creatures covered in shaggy hair. They have short arms with four fingers each, and two hooves for feet. They are often found guarding horses.
PUFFSKEIN | These yellowish balls of fluff are often used as pets. They are easy to care for and hum when they are content.
RAMORA | A silvery fish with magical powers. Although it usually protects seafarers, it can also anchor ships in place.
Class XXX : Use Caution
ABRAXAN | A powerful breed of winged horse which is used to pull flying carriages. They need to be roughly handled and only drink single malt whiskey.
AETHONAN | A breed of winged horse which is chestnut colored.
ASHWINDER | A pale gray serpent which is created from the ashes of magical fires. Their red eggs are often used in Love potions.
BILLYWIG | A half inch long insect colored a briliant sapphire. Instead of flapping its wings, which are located in a circular pattern around its head, it spins like a helicopter. Being stung by one will make the person incredibly giddy and cause them to levitate.
BUNDIMUM | A greenish fungus with many eyes which secretes a substance that causes the structures of buildings to rot.
CRUP | Domestic dogs which look like Jack Russell Terriers, but have forked tails. Once they are 6 to 8 weeks old, it is required by law to remove the second tail.
DOXY | Also known as Biting Fairies, these small winged creatures have a venomous bite. They have four arms, four legs, and breed faster than rabbits.
DUGBOG | A creature that looks like dead wood when it is still. It lives in marshy areas and feeds on mandrakes.
FIRE CRAB | A six legged, tortoise-like creature with a jeweled shell. It shoots fire from its back end when threatened. They can be pets if you have the proper license, but they are difficult to attain.
FWOOPER | Exotic birds which have bright colors of either orange, pink, lime green or yellow. To own one requires a proper license and a Silencing Charm since the bird's song drives anyone who listens to it insane.
GIANT ORANGE SNAIL | Large snails with yellow bodies and orange striped shells. Their shells are covered in spikes, and their body secretes a highly acidic substance.
GLUMBUMBLE | Furry insects which produce melancholy-inducing treacle.
GRANIAN | A breed of winged horse which is gray colored and incredibly fast.
HIPPOCAMPUS | Aquatic horses with the tail of a fish.
HIPPOGRIFF | A winged creature with the head and forelegs of an eagle and the hindquarters and tail of a horse. They are not violent as long as you do not insult them and use proper etiquette.
JARVEY | Overgrown talking ferrets which are used to hunt gnomes.
KNARL | Creatures which have the appearance of hedgehogs, but go berserk if you offer them food which they believe to be poisoned.
KNEAZLE | Large cats which are often used as pets or familiars. They can be incredibly hostile towards certain individuals.
LEPRECHAUN | Short, mischievous human-like creatures which can create a gold-like substance which disappears after a few hours. They are native to Ireland.
JARVEY | Overgrown talking ferrets which are used to hunt gnomes.
LOBALUG | A ten inch long aquatic creature. It has a spout which spews venom if threatened.
MACKLED MALACLAW | A land dwelling creature which resembles a 12 inch lobster. They hare grey with green spots and are inedible. If bitten by one, the person will become incredibly unlucky.
MOKE | A ten inch lizard with highly desired silvery green skin. It can shrink at will.
MURTLAP | Rodents which enjoy eating crustaceans. They have anemone-like growths on their backs which may be eaten to improve one's resistance to jinxes.
NIFFLER | Burrowing creatures with narrow snouts. They are attracted to shiny things, making them great treasure hunters.
NOGTAIL | These creatures look like a demonic long-legged pig. It enjoys cursing pig farms, and can only be chased off by albino dogs.
PIXIE | Small blue mischief makers with wings. They have incredible strength, and can communicate with each other.
PLIMPY | Small, round fish with two legs. They are pests to merpeople.
POGREBIN | A 1 foot tall Russian demon. They trail humans and attack them when they sit down or kneel.
RED CAP | A burrowing, dwarf-like creature which is attracted to blood.
SALAMANDER | Red lizards that feed off of fire. If they haven't been in contact with fire for a long period of time, they turn blue and will die.
SEA SERPENT | Massive aquatic creatures which can grow up to 100 feet long. They have horse like heads and serpent bodies.
SHRAKE | An aquatic fish with a body covered in spines. It seeks out and destroys Muggle fishing nets.
STREELER | A giant snail which leaves a trail of highly toxic venom. Every hour or so, Streelers randomly change color.
Class XXXX : Dangerous
CENTAUR | A magical creature with the head and torso of a human, but the body of a horse. They are highly intelligent and specialize in Healing, Divination, and Astronomy.
DEMIGUISE | Ape-like creatures with large dark eyes with the ability to turn invisible. Their fur is used to make invisibility cloaks.
ERKLING | Creatures resembling house elves which can speak to humans. For some reason, they love shooting darts at people and eating human children.
ERUMPET | A creature resembling a rhino with a magic-resistant hide. They have one large horn which is powerful enough to pierce metal. Males will often spontaneously combust during mating season, and are thus also used to make Exploding Fluid.
FOREST TROLL | Trolls with green skin and thick green or brown hair. They are the most intelligent species of troll and have been known to breed with humans.
GOLDEN SNIDGET | A small golden bird which was used as a Snitch in the earliest form of Quidditch. It is perfectly round and has fully-rotating wings. They are not dangerous, but are classified as such because they are almost extinct.
GRAPHORN | Aggressive humped creatures with pale purple-tinted skin thicker than dragons hide and resistant to nearly all magic. It has two golden horns and feet with four thumbs on each. Mountain Trolls often use them as unwilling mounts.
GRIFFIN | These violent winged creatures have the head and forelegs of an eagle, but the body and tail of a lion. They eat raw meat and are nearly impossible to tame.
KAPPA | An aquatic scale-covered demon monkey with webbed hands. They live in shallow water and feast on human blood.
KELPIE | An aquatic demon which can shape shift into any form. However, they usually take the form of horses and carry people into the water on their backs. They eat human flesh.
MERPEOPLE | Merpeople are a race of aquatic beings who speak Mermish. Their customs are not known to most land dwellers, but they are known to be violent if you trespass in their territory. Some sub-species are Sirens, Selkies, and Merrows.
MOUNTAIN TROLL | Ugly, pale gray trolls. They are around twelve feet tall and not at all intelligent.
OCCAMY | Fifteen foot serpents with two legs and wings. They lay eggs of pure silver.
PHOENIX | A red bird about the size of a swan. They have long golden tails, and beautiful plumage. When they grow old, they burst into flames and are reborn as a chick from the ashes. They are immune to being paralyzed, and have tears with healing powers.
RE'EM | Rare ox-like creatures with golden fur. Drinking its blood gives a person immense strength.
RIVER TROLL | Hairy trolls with horns and purple skin.
RUNESPOOR | A three headed, 6 to 7 foot long snake. The right head has fangs which are highly venomous.
SPHINX | Creatures with the head of a human and the body of a lion. They are capable of human speech and absolutely love riddles.
TEBO | Completely black colored warthogs which can become invisible. Their hides are used to make protective clothing.
THESTRAL | A breed of winged horse that can only be seen by those who have witnessed someone die. They have skeletal bodies, and can -- by experienced wizards -- be tamed and used as a mount. They are rarely used this way, however, since they are considered bad omens.
TROLL OF NADROJ | A type of troll which looks like a Mountain Troll, but has long, massive hands. It is more intelligent and less violent than a Mountain Troll.
UNICORN | A white horse with a single horn protruding from its head. It has golden hooves and silvery blue blood which can extend a person's life, but curse them.
YETI | An incredibly violent creature that will attack anything that crosses its path. It is around 15 feet tall when full grown and is covered with snow white fur.
Class XXXXX : RUN AWAY!
ANCROMANTULA | A GIANT spider which eats human flesh. They are incredibly intelligent and are capable of human speech. Their venom is highly toxic and their eggs are banned from being traded.
BASILISK | A massive serpent which can grow up to fifty feet long. Its gaze will instantly kill anyone looking directly at it, and those who look at it indirectly will be petrified. If someone speaks Parselmouth, they may be able to domesticate one. Their venom is deadly.
CHIMAERA | These creatures have the heads of lions, bodies of goats, and tails of dragons. They are bloodthirsty creatures, and only one has ever been killed.
DRAGON, ANTIPODEAN OPALEYE | Beautiful, white, 40 foot long dragons with rainbow, pupil-less eyes. They can breathe red fire and enjoy eating sheep.
DRAGON, CHINESE FIREBALL | Also known as the Liondragon, these 25 foot long beats breathe mushroom-shaped fire from their nostrils. They are quick and clever.
DRAGON, COMMON WELSH GREEN | This 18 foot long dragon has a distinct roar and shoots quick jets of fire. It has green scales, thus why it was named.
DRAGON, HEBRIDEAN BLACK | This dragon has dark scales and purple eyes. They are about 30 feet long and have sharp ridges all along their back.
DRAGON, HUNGARIAN HORNTAIL | If there was a level XXXXXX classification, this dragon would be in it. They have spikes all over their tail and head, and inky black scales. It is about 50ft long and its flame can reach that same length. They are incredibly violent and have a screeching roar.
DRAGON, NORWEGIAN RIDGEBACK | A 35 foot brown dragon with venomous fangs.
DRAGON, PERUVIAN VIPERTOOTH | A 15 foot long dragon with copper scales and venomous teeth. Unlike other dragons, they hunt and eat humans.
DRAGON, ROMANIAN LONGHORN | A 40 foot dragon with dark green scales and long golden horns. They are muscular and bulkier than other dragons.
DRAGON, SWEDISH SHORT-SNOUT | A 20 foot dragon with silvery blue scales who can breathe blue flame. It is an incredibly agile flier and shoots incredibly hot flames.
DRAGON, UKRAINIAN IRONBELLY | A dragon with dark gray scales and bright red eyes. It is 60 feet long and can weigh up to 6 tons.
LETHIFOLD | A carnivorous creature, also known as a Living Shroud, that resembles a black cloak. It attacks its prey at night and digests it in its sleep.
MANTICORE | An intelligent creature capable of human speech. It has a human head, a lion's body, and a tail of a scorpion. Its skin is resistant to all charms, and its sting causes instant death
NUNDU | A giant leopard-like animal which has toxic breath. They are impossible to subdue with any less than one hundred wizards working together.
QUINTAPED | This creature, also known as a Hairy MacBoon, looks like a five legged spider. They are incredibly deadly and eat human flesh.
