I promise not to try not to fuck with your mind ( Only students in their fourth year or above who are interested in going into the fields of herbology, potions, alchemy, wand-making, etc. should take this class. If you don't fit that criteria, don't worry. I'll be getting up a class for everyone else soon! Try to keep posts short and sweet so that fun times can be had by all ) Greenhouse 2 had drastically changed from last year. There were at least twice as many plants lined up along the walls, most of which were brightly colored and gave off unique, exotic fragrances. Many of these new plants were quite rare and hard to come by, and any half-descent herbology student would realize that they had just walked into a Herbologist's wonderland. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day outside, and the sunlight filtered through the spotless glass walls and ceiling with an inviting golden glow. Less than a minute before class was going to begin, Erik walked in. Yes, he was the new professor, though he didn't exactly look the part. He had ear piercings, a lip piercing, and a slender chain connecting the two. His greenish locks were absurdly long, and only partly tied up, but somehow he managed to keep them away from the squirming thing he held in his gloved hands. "Alright," Erik announced, his voice loud, and his tone soft yet subtly commanding, "Will everyone settle down, please?" He placed the creature he was holding down at the head of the table. It looked like a bonsai tree, but its trunk and branches thrashed around chaotically. However, as Erik moved his arms away from it, the tree's futile attacks steadily slowed down to a stop. "I'm Professor Malfoy--" damn, did that title sound unfamiliar, "--and, as you all probably know by now, this is my first year teaching at Hogwarts, so I apologize if I don't know all of your names after the first few days."There should be a textbook about trees, a flash drive, and some gloves at every seat. The flash drive has a PDF version of the text that you can download onto something if you don't want to carry the book around with you, and the book contains information on just about everything that we'll be covering for the first two or three weeks. Now..." Erik, smiling pleasantly, motioned to the bonsai and moved his hand just close enough to make its branches shudder, "Easy question: can anyone tell me what this tree is? Oh, and don't bother with raising your hands. We're all adults here."

Actually, he knew it was - knowing the magical properties of different plants was invaluable to his research, and the experiments he'd conducted on the side relied heavily on prior knowledge of how ingredients reacted with one another. Herbs and other plants were important ingredients of many potions. So that was one of the reasons Sion was happy to be in the greenhouses today.
Plus, it was a beautiful day, and though Sion didn't really care one way or another about the weather, it was nice to have some bright light shining into the room. There were some new plants growing along the walls, a fair number of which Sion could identify, and many of which he was eager to learn about. Some looked quite exotic. And just as new and exotic-looking as the plants was the Herbology teacher walking in.
Sion lifted his chin musingly to get a better look at the plant in the Professor's arms, his fingertips running thoughtfully along his throat as his hands came together in a steeple shape. His elbows were resting solidly on the table, and in between them was a book, a flash drive, gloves, and his personal laptop. Although he often used his textbooks while studying in his dorm - he'd always liked the weight and feel of books - having a digital copy was dead useful. He usually brought his laptop, or at least his smartphone, with him whenever he left the dungeons.
Drumming his fingertips together, the Slytherin narrowed his eyes at the small tree. Professor Malfoy was expecting them to answer and Sion knew he should have the answer, but he was at a loss. A moving plant. It wasn't a mandrake; didn't have the right shape, and if it had been, even advanced Herbology students wouldn't be able to hear their cries without passing out. The plant was silent. There were no earmuffs on the table, only gloves. In conclusion, it was not a mandrake. Flitterblooms moved, but they looked like devil's snare, not bonsai. Flutterby bush? No, this was a tree, not a bush... maybe a screechsnap. Sion wasn't sure what those looked like, though, and he was too proud to go flipping through his text to try and identify it. Nor was he about to use legilimency to invade his teacher's mind no, he wasn't even considering it. Besides, he wouldn't feel as accomplished as if he'd known it himself.
So, instead of responding, the fourth year student just rose his eyebrows and gazed thoughtfully at the mystery tree, as if he couldn't be bothered to answer. [/style]
