this is in response to the "what do you want" announcement~

FIRST OFF. this site is super lovely and I think it just needs some sort of push to get it rolling. because, idk, it just needs some fun thing to kind of pump up the energy. so, I say yes to a halloween event.

I'm not really sure what it should be. maybe a dance? or, maybe some sort of cool "halloween hunt" where students are divided into small teams and given clues to do a scavenger hunt? just trying to throw out ideas, since dances can get boring. if we do have a dance, it'd need something special about them to keep interest. also more girls. which sounds dumb from sion's pov, since he hates forced social gatherings and females. but yeah, a scavenger hunt might be another option since it's less of a "default event."

or... maybe some dangerous creature being set loose in the dungeons? trolololo

but I digress.

SECOND. just general around-the-site stuff that I've noted. these are just more of the technicalities of the role play.

um, I dunno if it's just me, but for some reason the whole plotting with other characters setup seems to make people a bit hesitant to actually plot. or that may just me my dislike of replying to people's plot pages. but but like, when it has their profile/history/inventory/tracker all there, it kinda feels like I'd be trespassing if I posted like "HEY LETZ PLOT :DDD" on their thread. So, maybe there should be a place to put that profile and additional information in a sort of "tracker" area, and then another more traditional "plot" area. that might cause some people to move stuff around, but it might make for more fertile plot brainstorming.

BUT IDK.

oh and, a "request" area. where people can be like "MAKE ME A (INSERT FAMILY MEMBER HERE) FOR MY CHARRIE, YO" or just request for people to make and play the role of some character they've already invented for some pre-planned plot.

and then I can be like, "SOMEONE MAKE A ROOMMATE FOR SION WHO WILL ACTUALLY PUT UP WITH HIM AND GET HIM TO SLEEP AND FORCE-FEED HIM IF NEED BE. BUT THEY WILL BE BESTIES. FOREVER."

lulz.

so anyway, that's all I have to say. I really hope this site builds up momentum because, wah, it could be so awesome. if anyone wants to add more or criticise my suggestions, go ahead! >3

I'm going to answer the second point first about the tracker threads.

When we were first starting the site we had a discussion about tracker/plot threads and what we found was people never really use them much or about 20% of the site's population would use them - if lucky. That was when we decided that we would do the character profile system. Personally I agree with you that it seems a bit like we are invading threads because they are all nice and such so it's kinda hard to plot. I agree with you and I support this. Other guys, what do you think?

Now the third point I'm doing these in awkward orders:

So maybe what we can do for this is make a thread in the character creation place where you can post a request and once it is filled you can strike it? It seems to be the only capable way of working it because if we have too many boards it would look really long and hideous. I like the idea though.

As for the first one I might make an alternative world roleplay where you are all stuck in an arena and a dragon appears. WTF do you do =w=

personally - and this is in general - I find it hard to get my characters out and forming relationships because a) I'm just bad at approaching people and asking to plot and b) my characters can't be bothered to go and make some friends. well, at least that's the case for sion. so usually I like it when there are things where I can just stick him with other people (i.e. classes and events)

some people prefer just to use their character to develop relationships and their plots are usually between characters. but I also find it fun to have plots that aren't just about school drama. of course, we do have a general site plot, but usually the overall plot doesn't come into role plays directly. it's kind of overarching.

basically, this is my long-winded way of saying that I think, other than this possible halloween event, it'd be cool to have some random little happenings that can keep members on their toes. like mini-plots or random events or little mysteries for the characters to randomly encounter or unlock. they could be announced publicly or kept secret and need to be triggered by certain actions. there wouldn't have to be a lot; they'd just be little side things for fun.

of course, this would take some creativity and it does seem like a bit of work for staff. but anyone could make suggestions, and the public ones could pretty much be run by the role play charries themselves. and I could always come up with ideas to help.

so idk, it'd kind of be a lot to take on, especially with so few members to participate. and I don't know how clear I was about explaining it. but once this place really gets rolling it may be interesting to some role players... or just me

So are you trying to say you kinda want something to bring you to roleplay with someone without you asking them because you find it awkward to ask them to plot or something. If so I can completely relate. Usually when you join a site (or even if you've been a member for a while) it's kinda hard to ask someone if they want to roleplay in case they say "No." Maybe I can do something where I just randomly pair people and give them a topic and place where they must follow said topic/rumour. Feedback?

I like the idea of mini-plots but mini plots tend to be hard to get started because a common reaction is usually something like "Oh but I can't think of anything" herp derp -.- We still need to put up chapter one of plots. Which still needs to be discussed so maybe that will get done... soon.

yeah, something like that. like the rumours we already have, those are like what I'm trying to describe. throwing people together with some sort of goal is usually a good way to see how they actually interact, and once people meet each other they can choose to continue to develop the relationship or not. I think that sometimes, with rumours and mini-events, there needs to be a push. so randomly pairing people up is good. maybe people can have the choice either to reply to the thread and "sign up" to participate in a rumour/event, and then be paired up, or choose their own partner if they have something specific planned. so people can get involved with site rumours/events and develop relationships at the same time. and, of course, there'd be non-rumour/event threads to participate in.

First off, yes. We do need events. Dances, parties, trolls in the dungeon, the whole bit. I'm going to try talking to the rest of the staff people today about a halloween event, because that's coming up soon holycrapIneedtogetacostumesoon!, and hopefully something should be up by tonight (or tomorrow if I'm lazy xD). As for the more random, minor events, how about an escaped boggart hunt? Or a dragon in the dungeon... -goes to make an event sub-board-

Secondly! What If I made a sub-board for tracking things? Like inventory and threads... Then the profile and the plot page would be together (which is what I think we were initially planning), and it wouldn't be quite as awkward to reply? Or maybe someone just needs to start, and people will follow >.> -goes to stalk Sion's profile-

Podz is going to make a mini event also. It's going to be an alternative universe roleplay where one of your characters must die. :3 Just because Halloween revolves around horrors and scary things. I just think that there should be death stuff but because it's an alternative universe your character won't actually be dead... If you catch my drift. That submission stuff should be up tonight. I hope everyone participates! :3
